I am an Assistant Professor of Statistics in the Department of Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, and Statistics at Case Western Reserve University.
My research develops theoretical and methodological tools for learning and decision-making from data, particularly in sequential settings. In particular, I am interested in:
- sequential decision-making problems, especially contextual bandits,
- nonparametric statistics and kernel methods,
- statistical learning theory,
- inverse problems and machine learning.
I am interested in applications to scientific and societal decision-making problems, particularly in settings involving uncertainty and sequential data.
Academic background
I received my PhD in Statistics from the University of Minnesota under the supervision of Prof. Yuhong Yang. Before joining Case Western Reserve University, I held postdoctoral positions at Penn State University, the University of Minnesota, and the University of Chicago. Prior to graduate school, I completed a master’s degree in mathematics at the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research and a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from the University of Delhi.
Prospective Students
I am interested in advising PhD students and collaborating with undergraduate and master’s students on research projects in statistical learning, sequential decision-making, contextual bandits/reinforcement learning, and nonparametric methods. Students interested in working with me should feel free to email me with a brief description of their interests and background.
